What does it really mean to have faith?
Is faith simply a feeling? wishful thinking? Or perhaps faith is hoping that something will happen? Is there something objective that can guide and test our faith?
In John 4:46–54, we meet a desperate father who comes to Jesus asking for his son to be healed. Jesus gives him a promise—and the man chooses to believe Jesus' word and act on it before he ever sees the evidence.
This powerful account teaches us a foundational truth: True faith takes Jesus at His word, even before it sees the evidence.
In this message, Pastor Tim examines three truths about biblical faith:
1. Faith is tested by what we cannot see.
2. Faith takes action on what Jesus has said.
3. Faith in action impacts others.
Biblical faith isn't blind faith. It is confidence in what God has said. God's Word gives us the foundation for how we live, serve, give, love, share the Gospel, and follow Christ—even when we cannot yet see the outcome.
But this passage ultimately points beyond the miracle. John's purpose in writing his Gospel was that we would believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing we might have life through His name. Have you placed your faith in Jesus Christ—not in your goodness, religion, baptism, church, or works, but in what Christ has done for you?
